November usually reminds people of Thanksgiving and preparing for Christmas. But instead of jumping right into both of those, I decided to have my first blog post in November be about what I’m grateful for. This past year has been full of big changes and those changes have really put into perspective what’s important and what I’m truly grateful for. I think a lot of the time as humans we focus on the negative things no matter how small. I got a flat tire; the barista was rude to me or I just had a bad day period. Why do we do this when honestly, we ALL have things no matter how small, we are grateful for. Here are a few of mine and because I am grateful for all of you, make sure to scroll down to enter my Grateful Giveaway!
I’m Grateful for Doing Something I Love and am Passionate About
After my mom passed away, I really had an ah-ha moment and realized that life is short. You can be fine one minute and gone the next. I wasn’t happy at my current job and really wanted to just blog. I went to New York Fashion Week for the first time and decided there that the day I got back I would put in my two weeks. It was a little scary, but I didn’t have any doubts. Eight months later, I’m loving my decision and so grateful that I made the right decision and get to work with brands some, that I’ve been using for years, meet other bloggers who have become good friends, host charity events and have the freedom to make my own schedule. I’m also grateful that all of you, my followers, have supported me along the way in this crazy blogging journey. I always say to people that I really have the nicest followers who are always sending me nice direct messages and super nice when they meet me in person. I couldn’t ask for anything more and I truly appreciate every single one of you!
I’m Grateful I Get to Help People Through Health and Fitness
If you told me back in college that I would still be teaching 22 years later when I called the local 24 Hour Fitness and asked how to become an instructor, I would’ve told you, “You’re crazy!” But 22 years later I’m still teaching 6 days a week and loving it. What started out as a fun side job while I went to school has turned out to be a lifelong passion that I will do until I can’t do it anymore. Helping people reach their fitness goals is so fulfilling and never gets old. It’s not about weight loss at all. I mean sometimes it is, but I love it when a member tells me that he doesn’t have to take as many medications anymore because his Cholesterol is down or when someone tells me their surfing is better because they have a stronger core or when a new mother tells me that her labor was a breeze. All because of my classes. I’m grateful that teaching has kept me healthy all these years and that I can promote health and wellness to everyone around me.
I’m Grateful for My SoCal Blogger Babes
I’ve mentioned that the whole social media scene can be a little hard sometimes. It’s competitive and for the first two years, I had no blogging friends. I would go to an event either alone or with a non-blogger friend and it wasn’t fun. Last year I helped start SoCal Blogger Babes, a group of local bloggers in Orange County. I feel like once I hung out with other bloggers on a regular basis and had the support of like-minded women, I started to blossom as a blogger myself. Most of the girls in the group are always there if you need to talk or be your last minute photographer or help you when you’re throwing up in Forever 21! Yep, that happened to me. I’m grateful for all of them and the opportunities that have risen because of the group and I can’t wait to see what happens next to these boss babes!
I’m Grateful for my Little Family
Dave will never be an Instagram boyfriend, but what he is and has been since the very beginning is supportive of my blogging journey. He really didn’t fully understand it in the beginning because he rarely goes on Instagram or Facebook. But he sees that I’m much happier and not stressed anymore and he also sometimes benefits from some of the collabs like when it involves food. Lol I also can’t forget my Violet who I’m grateful for when she came into my life at a time when I had just lost my Rose of 12 years. She makes me smile every day and is also becoming a fixture on my Instagram lately.
So there you go! A few things that I’m grateful for! I’ll continue to focus on these not just in November, but all year long and I challenge you to do the same!
