Walking into this Tuesday with excitement and a lot of nervousness. Why? Because on Friday, after 4.5 years, I won’t be driving to my full-time job anymore and will be pursuing blogging full-time.
It’s bittersweet for me. Working at a smaller company is not like working in a corporate office. Every coworker of mine has been to my house for parties and I even threw a baby shower for one at my house. We pretty much know everything that’s going on in each other’s lives. The good, the bad and the embarrassing. I love my coworkers and some of them I consider family and will miss dearly.
I’m going to miss going into their offices and vent about a bad day, tell them exciting news or cry when I’m going through something tough. There was a lot of crying over the last 4.5 for various reasons, but mostly because of the passing of my mom and they were my rock.
But sometimes you need to move on and grow with something you’re passionate about.
I started my blog 2 years into me being at my full-time job and as time went on it grew and my passion for my full-time job starting getting pushed by the passion for my blog. And while I feel like I always maintained them both as well as teaching all my fitness classes, I was always thinking about my next post or scheduling a photoshoot or what I was going to wear to the next event. It wasn’t fair to my company or me. They should have someone who eats and breaths marketing and I should explore if I can make it full-time as a blogger.
So while the next few days will definitely be emotional, I’m excited to see what the future holds for me and I know that whoever takes over for me, will be as happy as I’ve been for the last 4.5 years.
