Who said work clothes have to be boring? Not this girl! In addition to blogging and teaching fitness classes, I’ve always had a corporate office job. Some offices were more strict than others on a dress code, but whatever the dress code was the message was the same. Dress professionally. What does that mean? It can mean so many things to different people, but what I noticed then and I still notice today, that to some the word professional translates into boring.
Women wearing boring and basic colors every day, clothes that are very dated or clothes that just don’t fit properly. I think some women kind of just give up because they don’t know what is considered appropriate anymore. Well that needs to stop ladies!
Basically if you are not showing cleavage, too much thigh, wearing stilettoes then you are dressed professional. If you look like you’re going to walk the streets after work then maybe you should rethink your office look. But bottom line, professional does not equal boring.
My featured look is the perfect example. I’m not showing any skin, but it’s not boring.
I love anything that makes a statement and these high waisted pants are definitely a head turner. True story, as we were shooting this look, a guy yelled, “I like your pants!” lol See they made a statement and again still professional looking. I love the colors for fall and the striped pants help elongate the legs while the high waisted cut helps suck everything in.
Whenever I’m wearing a statement piece I don’t want to take away from it so I paired the pants with a simple white button down shirt that I tied in a front knot, black booties and my favorite black ring bag. A work appropriate, but not boring look.
I linked some of my favorite statement pants along with everything else to create this look HERE!
